Check it out! ๐ In this review I discuss how disruptions in splicing machinery may drive and contribute to defects of the vagal neuarcrest derived cardiac and enteric tissues. It's a pretty good read!.
๐ซ@thedrjam and @lamsciworld discuss splicing and potential contribution of mis-splicing to cardiac and ENS defects. ReadโAre vagal neural crest derived tissues impacted in spliceosomopathies?โโpart of the โAll Things Neural Crestโ special issue:

Post doc life is continuing to treat me well. I have been super lucky to have my CIHR fellowship approved for 3 years of funding! It's kind of mind blowing because highschool Josh would not have dreamed of this for himself in a millions years! #blackinbio

Way to go @ribarragp and @uribelabrice !.
My friends, I'm very proud to share a story long in the making about sympathoadrenal cells retaining a #neuralcrest gene signature after forced expression of the human #oncogene Nmyc in zebrafish! Congrats to 1st author @ribarragp and coauthors! 1/6.

Check out this paper from my thesis lab very cool work and CRISPR screen!.
Using a #zebrafish F0 CRISPR screen, we found that genes encoding opioid receptors were essential for #ENS development! Today @PLOSONE, led by postdoc @RodrigoMoreC! Read the @RiceUNews story ย and paper here:

Check out my advisors mini-review on zebrafish and its use as a model of ENS!.
For 20 years, the #zebrafish model has helped to identify over 65 genes required for proper #ENS development. In a mini-review, I summarize these genes, their phenotypes, and present an enteric neuron gene regulatory network.
