Retributive justice seldom brings change to systemic issues. We can’t afford to move the needle one BIPOC life at a time. We can’t afford to believe in guns and violence as a way of social control. This is all still unsustainable.

Y'all, I spoke too soon. The quarantine caught up to me a year later. I cannot get out of PJs or workout clothes these days 😅 Like a true introvert I am regressing as things open back up! I am not ready!.

Shout out to all the youth surviving/who survived the quarantine stuck in toxic homes and especially for those who had no other place to go. At the start of the pandemic, this is who I worried for the most.

I can HONESTLY say today was the first time in all of quarantine/WFH that I went from night PJs to day PJs, (I did not wear “outside/nice/work” clothes strange flex I know but what odds have you defied during shelter in place?🙃.

So much attention has been paid to Derek Chauvin’s lack of humanity toward George Floyd, but I can’t stop thinking about the powerful humanity of all the bystanders who tried to intervene to save his life. This verdict would not have been possible without them.

I’m not celebrating but I am feeling a bit relieved that if a cop kills one of my black family members I might witness them losing their job (at minimum) or having the “justice” system work for them too (also minimum).
