This isn't the actual cost, it's an estimation from a JP economist who writes film articles. He's just guessing the production costs: 600 million Yen ($4 million) with a break even point of 2.15 billion Yen ($13 million) in total.

Even so, The Chainsawman Movie has like 80 Key Animators, 12 Animation Directors and 18 Assistant Animation Directors or so I don't put much stock in these random numbers.

Generally 2d Animation Film costs are far cheaper than 3d Animation Films. Especially in Japan, but Japan is also is very tight lipped about what an Anime film costs unless they're bragging about it.

His reasoning for 600 million Yen? No idea at all. Maybe he thinks Mappa would see Look Back's Box Office (2 Billion Yen) and aim for their total costs not to exceed that for their Fujimoto Adaptation.

More! lol IG would use Ghibli's screening room for Innocence to watch previews & let staff see it. When Oshii didn't show his face after the screening, Miyazaki came to find him. They'd start arguing, but the poster said that Miyazaki seems lonely when Oshii doesn't check in.
