Amidst all the good things, the docs are incomplete. There's this link option called API reference in Nodejs:. Clicking on it points to a 404 page. This is some shit that I'd expect from a startup, but Google?

You get text responses using the generateContent method. There's also a method that lets you start a chat (sendMessage). There's also something called generateContentStream and sendMessageStream? - prolly useful if you're building a chatbot.

nce you finally figure out where to find the docs, the models themselves are pretty cool. There's: Gemini 1.0 pro, Gemini 1.5 pro and Gemini 1.5 flash? I haven't tried them all, but 1.5x have over 1 million token support. Haven't really tested it out yet.

Google has got like three different versions of this thing - AI Studio, Vertex AI, now Firebase! Which one am I even supposed to use? . They all look the same, but I feel the Firebase/ Google Cloud Vertex AI have better output than the AI studio endpoint.

Seriously, Google, what's the deal with these Gemini API docs? Trying to set this up is like walking through a maze blindfolded. It's 2024, and I'm still jumping between 100 different pages trying to piece together the setup process. This ain't it, Google.

Lots of interesting discussions under this thread. JS might not be a one-size-fits-all solution, but it definitely is a useful and versatile tool to begin with!.
