Sat 1/11: Scotland: early rain breaks to afternoon showers, mostly W with hail and risk thunder. Strong gales on high tops of Eng and Wales at dawn, easing though remaining windy. A rainy morning as well, breaking to showers; a risk of hail and thunder on mountains near W coast.

Fri 31/10: Gales; difficult conditions likely on high tops. Morning showers onto W hills, substantially dry early in SE Scotland and Pennines. Rain sweeps across all areas through afternoon - several hours of persistent rain for most; risk of local flooding in the W Highlands.

Thu 30/10: A temporary lull in the wind will give way as later in the day upland gales reach western mountains. Substantially dry, with many mountains free of low cloud, hazy sun and thickening high-level cloud. Patchy rain will reach Wales and later in the day SW Scot & NW Eng.

Less precipitation eastern Cairngorms. Strengthening west-southwesterly winds for northern England with showers becoming more persistent rain afternoon. Wales starts with rain clearing south, then a few showers.

Wed 29/10: Varied mountain weather within a complicated area of low pressure. Cold but relatively benign in east Scotland, but in W Highlands, locally reaching upland gales. Slow-moving areas of rain - or above 700m snow - heavy at times with whiteout in places on mountains.

Monday 27th October - Scotland: Cold north-west winds and snow showers easing. Mostly dry with sunny periods. Rain/snow moving in from west into night. England/Wales: Early showers easing, giving plenty sunshine. Patchy rain and low cloud moving into Wales later.

Sunday 26th October - Cold, strengthening north-west winds for many with rain and low cloud moving in from northwest, after a mostly dry start. Briefly snow over tops England/Wales but falling as snow to 500-700m Scottish Highlands, before later even here lifting to highest tops.

Fri 24/10: Cold northerly winds gale force across Scottish mountains, increasingly severe higher tops. Showery in the north, most frequent precipitation for the Cairngorms, sleet or some snow on highest terrain, turning more to snow on higher tops late in day.

Thu 23/10: Very varied countrywide, but many mountain areas, particularly mainland Scotland and NW England, are situated between two low pressure centres and will experience relatively light wind and hardly any rain. Chilly for all, near to freezing on higher Scottish Munros.

Wed 22nd Oct; Chilly W/SW winds, strong for a time north Highlands, with showers across western hills, but few if any reaching eastern areas. Cloud bases lifting to higher slopes, but persisting across western tops, whilst eastern hills seeing good clearances and best of the sun.
