Hello Priti,
Currently 16% of scientists & academics in the UK originate from the EU. No visa restrictions at all. By ending freedom of movement you are making it harder for them.
You could have eased visa restrictions for non-EU long time ago & without Brexit. Just saying.
The UK is a world leader in science & innovation. It’s only right we make it easier for the world’s top scientists & researchers to come to our country.

Hello Matthew, have you got a source to the 90% statistic? Just asking as the Home Office is unable to provide as it a) has admitted that it has no reliable statistic on number of EU citizens in the UK
and b) the published quantitive number contains double applications.
The announcement of a “Settled Status” for EU citizens after Brexit is, in effect, telling people who have lived in the UK for years that they were “never really one of us”, the Bishop of Leeds, the Rt Revd Nick Baines, has said.
"We must now work towards proper implementation of these [EU citizens'] rights and we won't be accepting any half measures or any form of disguised or veiled discrimination," Barnier told the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
