I'm excited to share that I've been awarded the Continuing Graduate Fellowship for the upcoming school year! I'll dive deeper to understand how oscillations influence motor learning and memory using real-time TMS-EEG! Big thanks to @utgradschool @UTAustin and @Sarabellum8.

Our findings emphasize the importance of considering both metrics when using real-time phase-dependent TMS for measurement or interventional purposes. You can find the full text here -

We found that the relationship between mu power and corticospinal output was strongest and most positive for mu troughs, followed by random phases and mu peaks.

The model containing mu phase, mixed mu power (i.e., the sum of periodic and aperiodic mu power), and their interaction fit the data best, replicating our previous findings that mixed mu power-phase interactions influence corticospinal output.

We then quantitatively compared four statistical models that accounted for mu rhythm phase, mu power (including periodic and aperiodic components), and their interactions.

The sensorimotor mu rhythm oscillates from 8-13 Hz and influences corticospinal output. To systematically test which mu rhythm features are most relevant, we delivered single-pulse TMS during mu rhythm trough, peak, and random phases in healthy adults.

I’m excited to share my latest work with @Sarabellum8, in the form of a Letter to the Editor at @brainstimj! Here, we focused on the sensorimotor mu rhythm’s contribution to human corticospinal output.

Another one flies the nest. The amazing @motorchauvinist (Adarsh Kumar) passed his doctoral defense with flying colors today. Adarsh worked on understanding the neural mechanisms that lead to the formation of effector-independent motor representations.
