Hmm, Spotify. I’m getting about the same number of streams every month as I was a few months ago, but my royalties are not even a third of what they were. What naughtiness have you got up to which screws us artists over even more than you did before? 🤔

Anyone else's monthly listeners and royalty payments on Spotify dropped in the last few months, but number of plays have remained about the same as they were before?

Another day, another couple of dozen of notifications from accounts on X I don’t follow, or have any interest in following.

Streaming – great for consumers. Dreadful for artists. Still, it's been streamed 30k times. Which is bloody good for one of my tracks.

Just an observation – and wishful thinking. If my single, Airflow had been purchased on Bandcamp the same number of times its been streamed on Spotify, I would have made just over £30k (before fees) as opposed to the $100.93 (approx £79.79) I've actually earned.

I find this also applies to a lot of music artists and labels using AI to create their cover art.

I've heard this track countless times over the past several months, and it has the same impact on me now as it did there first time I heard it.

Maybe it takes you on a journey of the mind. Maybe it makes you feel lonely. Maybe it makes you feel connected. Any number of things, but it does something to you when you hear it. The track; 'Balloon', by Ukrainian music producer @TarasBazeev does this with me.

Every once in a while a song comes around that makes you sit up and take notice. A piece of music that connects with your mind, your body...your soul. For whatever reason, it does something to you whenever you hear it. Maybe it makes you emotional. Maybe it excites you.
