So much work went into this story, and now, finally, it's out. Our investigation into the carbon credit bonanza in the Amazon rainforest -- where companies are reaping a fortune off land they have no right to -- leading today's Washington Post.

Worse, when projects claim to be protecting lands *that are already protected,* they contribute next to nothing in the fight against climate change. “The victim is the planet,” we were told. “And all of humanity because we’re not reducing emissions, but get to pretend we are.”.

The projects have generated hundreds of millions. But almost none of it has gone to those who live on the land and those who actually protect the forest. “They robbed from us,” one river person told us.

This isn’t just a few of the project, we have found. This is *most* of the projects. The credits sold by them have gone to some of the world’s biggest companies: Netflix, Air France, Delta Air Lines, Salesforce, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Airbnb, Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., Boeing.

Much of the Amazon is shielded behind green wall of publicly-protected lands. But in recent years, climate opportunists in pursuit of a financial commodity called carbon credits have increasingly launched projects that wrongfully claim those lands.
