hey @LNER, after declassifying my train and cancelling my reservation, pushing me onto the next train which turned out to be 90 minutes late, you're now denying delay-repay, what gives?

teaching software design is hard because it's an attempt to teach programmers about the long term consequences of their actions

Somewhat spicy headline this time, but seeing a feature I rely heavily on get worse made me realize: it feels like "GitHub", the traditional website, is being treated as a legacy product from corporate's perspective.

anyway if you're interested in how buttbot happened, back in 2007, i wrote a post over on cohost: https://t.co/Qjyt8Qj0dd i can't speak about the later versions, like "buttsbot" on twitch, but it does make me happy that someone else took on the challenge

it is still very weird to me that a perl script i wrote almost twenty years ago, "buttbot", got rewritten and ended up being a popular twitch bot hopefully it'll get rewritten again https://t.co/6yjLFi61hv
Unfortunately, buttsbot will be offline until further notice. Twitch recently prevented IRC bot accounts from joining more than 100 channels simultaneously, and buttsbot would need to be re-written basically from scratch to accommodate this change. (1/3)

free each pointer in turn and if you segfault, there’s a loop send tweet
Take "determine if a linked list has a cycle in it." The solution people are supposed to come up with, "Tortoise and Hare", was AFAICT published in a heavily-cited 1967 research paper. You're asking a candidate to reinvent CS research in 30 minutes! https://t.co/WFjNYxi7g6
