This afternoon I headed up to Merthyr Tydfil and took a trip along the top of the valleys to Ebbw Vale. Stopped off a couple of times for a wander about! Back on train for a little bit now.

I had a lucky break today. I was wandering around the lovely huge St Woolos Cemetery in Newport trying to find the grave of Perce Blackborow, the stowaway on Ernest Shackleton’s Endurance Expedition. I bumped into someone and asked them and they not only knew, but took me to it!

I took a group to Pontypridd and visited the Museum before going up to the Common and having a look at the Rocking Stone. On the way back we called into the Llanover Arms and had a lovely pint of Darling Buds beer from the Warwickshire brewery. @WarksBeerCo

I arrived at Garth station by train and walked up to Garth Hill to the east. I’d built up quite a thirst by then so headed for the Cross Inn where I had a warm welcome and two lovely pints of Cerddin Brewery beer brewed in the micro brewery next door.. @CerddinBrewery

This was a real treat at the end of a day doing a walk around Cheltenham. Good coffee and a great peanut butter stack. Set me up for my walk back to the station and train home.
