$NEON If found guilty of willful infringement, Google would have risked up to 3x the 2.30 USD royalty rate -> up to 6.9 USD per unit, for a single patent. The risk of willful infringement found by a jury, could lead to early settlements, such as in the Neonode vs Samsung case.
$NEON Sonos was previously awarded damages from Google with a royalty rate of 2.3 USD / unit. The Federal Circuit has now confirmed the patent's validity. Great news for patent owners like Neonode, showing high per unit royalties for a single patent!

$NEON The Google devices were mostly Nest speakers with an ASP of 50-100 usd -> which renders the royalty rate awarded to around 2.3%-4.6% of the unit selling price. If percentages kept the same, devices with an ASP of $400 (Samsung phones) would result in even higher royalties.

$NEON #neonode All 847k shorts reported on June 25 have a significant losing position at this level ($25). On June 13 at least 1.65M of the daily volume were short sales. New SI reported yday shows an increase of 49% to 1.26M shares! They seem unaware of the Notice of Settlement.
The short interest numbers reported on 25/6 was up slightly from 838k to 847k. However, it was pointed out that this number did not include the trading on June 13, only until June 12. Short interest including trading on June 13 (News of Settlement) will be reported on July 10.

Some have argued that a jury would never award damages as high as $2/unit for infringing a single patent. However, this is not true! As a jury in 2014 awarded Apple (v. Samsung) per-unit damages of $2.75, $2.30, and $1.41 on 3 patents—roughly $3.7, $3.1, and $1.9 in 2025 dollars.

Today is the last day for Samsung to include the settlement with Neonode in their books for Q2. And tomorrow is the first day they could include it in Q3. Both days seems like viable options, depending on Samsungs’s preference. When will the final settlement be announced?

$NEON The trading action in Neonode y-day was very interesting. Usually heavy short selling takes place daily. Y-day it seemed as if they had resigned, and stopped selling short. The average for June is 57%, y-day only 36% was sold short! Are the shorts about to start covering?
