We LOVED all our visitors today, including some staff for tomato repots (Mrs. Surgeson is the BEST). It was great to see students identifying plants learned through the floral pathway, down to discussing differences in species & varieties! Amazing work, Ms. Vela. ☺️🪴.

Genetic Variation 101: below is our Begonia Big Whopper Red, used for landscaping purposes. As we grow these out, we spotted one slightly different in coloration, becoming ‘chunky’ in the color block. We will continue to isolate the gene to further grow out this rarity! @lisdcte

While principles students dissected, Floral students in the AM had a chance to initiate some higher thinking on color theory and the color wheel while learning about the Principles & Elements of floral design. Students utilized ‘Hues & Cues’ to master the color wheel.

Principles of Ag students rounded out our Poultry chapter of Small Animal Production by dissecting eggs from our campus chickens. The task? Identifying and separating the various layers & membranes within the shell and yolks/albumens. (All the yuck, yet so cool!) Fun lab Friday!
