This, of course, conflicts greatly with the fact that Neve was once a Replica himself. Had Vexen been truly cruel, each trial was a reminder of what could have been his own fate. Anything for science.

When running Replica trials, though the results may differ, the conclusion would always be the same. No Replica would be allowed to live after the tests are over.

After joining Organization XIII (not of his own volition), Neve’s primary task outside of missions was to push the boundaries and further their Replica research. What was once a project headed by Vexen and Neve together was now his alone, and it could be taxing at times.
