On one of the first days of this new school year, I joined @Newstalk1010 at Church Street Jr PS Native Learning Centre to highlight the Backpacks & School Supplies Drive. These donations are helping TDSB students start every school day with confidence.

There are so many exciting things happening in TDSB schools this summer. I was delighted to meet with students and staff who were part of the summer programming at Western Technical-Commercial School, as well as with Facilities staff working on repairs in the boiler room.

We are proud to celebrate the achievements of Andrew, Sheena, Sowmya, and Safiya. Their accomplishments show us what’s possible with hard work, passion, and a community of support.

On Saturday, I was delighted to join graduating Grade 12 student Tamir Mumin from Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute and Grade 11 student Amontaye Mullings from Oasis Alternative Secondary School at a reception that celebrated Ontario's Emerging Leaders.

I was pleased to join Valedictorian Jeannie Choi, 160 graduates, as well as administration, staff, and families in celebrating the graduating Grade 8 #Classof2025 from Bayview Middle School. Congratulations, graduates!

Dropped in at Broadacres PS as four kindergarten classes were preparing for their Senior Kindergarten celebration. It was great meeting Principal Suzanne deValk, Vice Principal Julien Alexandre, and several members of the wonderful Broadacres staff.

At the Skills Canada National Competitions 2025, students from Western Technical-Commercial School and Stephen Leacock CI brought home medals in electronics, design, and IT. Kudos to these students and their educators!

A record 246 TDSB Grade 12 students completed the Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF) French proficiency exam this year. Congratulations to these students for their engagement and excellence in additional language learning.

Congrats to Emma Chappel from A.Y. Jackson SS, who was a finalist in the Amazon First Novel Awards. Her story, “Lost Boy,” explores self-discovery, emotional growth and compassion.

More than 700 students with intellectual disabilities came together for the Division 6 Track and Field Meet, the largest of its kind in Canada and a day filled with school spirit and tenacity.

Parkdale CI hosted an activity day for Dr. Rita Cox-Kina Minagok PS students in honour of a student tragically lost to youth violence last year. The newly renamed Mohamed Doumbouya Parkdale CI Memorial Field served as the backdrop for the outstanding leadership of these students.
