Noord-Korea is niet alleen actief in Oekraïne, maar ook in het Afrikaanse continent. Met @bramvermeul sprak ik in de podcast 'Achter de Frontlinie' over de warme banden tussen het Kim-regime en Afrikaanse landen.

Reports of Russian influence in Africa are often based on fear, not fact. @mininghistory and I provide a counterargument to the prevailing narrative of Russian-African relations that obscures African agency. Now available at @WPReview:.

The 2023 book is dedicated to "Mzee Laurent Désiré Kabila", the former president of DR Congo. Kabila was immortalized in a statue in Kinshasa, made by. a North Korean art studio.

During my archival research on North Korean-African relations I encountered lots of similar publications from the Cold War era. Clearly this kind of interest survived the test of time.

Fascinating to see that even today African intellectuals remain interested in North Korean ideology. This book, written by a Congolese professor, was published in July 2023.
