A preliminary vote at NYCHA’s Hylan Houses took place this a.m. For now, it’s a tie. There are 83 votes for the Trust, 83 votes for PACT and nine votes for Section 9. A final count will take place next Friday, Dec. 20. Here’s what tenants had to say about a pathway forward:
Hylan Houses tenants cited a shared appreciation for their close-knit community and also agreed on frustrations, such as lack of building security, plumbing issues and slow elevator service. But they didn’t all agree on the pathway to fund repairs.

Part of the changes the mayor announced yesterday includes a new "centralized mail center" for migrants in shelter @dparramejia was first to report comprehensively on the issues lost shelter mail was causing for people's immigration cases back in July:

“You can’t walk across anywhere to get to anywhere,” said Red Hook Houses resident Henry Watkins. Tag team story by @MariRebuaSimoes & @tatyanacturner, about life at Red Hook Houses, where post Sandy-funded resiliency work has turned the campus into a construction zone
Hurricane Sandy struck a blow to NYCHA’s Red Hook Houses. But 12 years later, plans to recover and flood-proof the development on Brooklyn’s western waterfront are still not done: former green spaces are hard-hat zones, disrupted by rubble and excavators.

Spoke with @barikaXw about the last 50 years of @ANHDNYC, founded in 1974 to do "the really piece-by-piece work of taking over and preserving abandoned and neglected buildings." (Fun fact: @CityLimitsNews was originally a newsletter for ANHD organizers)

Don't have time to parse the 57-page indictment against our mayor? We read it for you, and pulled the highlights team effort w/ @dparramejia @MariRebuaSimoes @CPjanaro @tatyanacturner
"You win the race by raising money," Mayor Eric Adams allegedly texted a supporter while running for office, according to federal indictment unsealed Thursday, which accuses him of bribery and fraud. "Have to raise money. Everything else is fluff.”

Taking a lot of trips down memory lane this morning, like that time when Eric Adams was running for mayor and let reporters into his Brooklyn brownstone to prove that yes he did live there okay! And then @DavidFBrand took a peek in his fridge

There's a new monitor in town -- for NYCHA. @tatyanacturner digs into the latest oversight report from the independent entity charged w/ tracking NYCHA's improvement efforts. It's the first from @JennerBlockLLP, which took over the role this year:
