📎 Final thought:.You don’t need to have all the answers to be a good teacher. Just make space, show interest, and be willing to share what you know. Someone once did it for you—now it’s your turn.

👥 Involve learners in real work.(Collins et al., 1989 – Cognitive Apprenticeship).Let them present cases, write plans, lead discussions. Debrief afterwards. “See one, do one, teach one”—but with support.

💬 Feedback is teaching.✍️ Effective feedback is specific, timely, and based on observable behaviour (Ende, 1983). Don’t just say “Good job.”. Specific > vague. Timely > delayed. Ask for feedback on your teaching, too. It models openness and improves your teaching!.

🎯 Set clear expectations early.(Peyton, 1998).Ask: “What do you want to focus on today?”.Let learners choose goals. It builds engagement & avoids awkward mismatches in level.

⏱️ Use the One-Minute Preceptor model.(Neher et al., 1992).✅ Get a commitment.✅ Probe for reasoning.✅ Teach general rules.✅ Reinforce what went well.✅ Correct gently. Teaching doesn’t need to be long—just intentional.

🎓 You’re a clinical teacher now—whether or not it’s official. On-call, post-take, ward rounds—learners are watching & learning from you. Here’s how to make that count, even in a busy NHS setting:.
