“This book is on a higher level than generic software books. It explains the how's and why's of using Postgres's many feature. It is an excellent companion to the official Postgres documentation.” wrote Bruce Momjian about my book You have your copy yet?.

Final tweet in that thread: see if you're wondering about “a single command line per box, really?”. Yes, really. And you can reproduce that at home. The full Dockerfile and docker-compose.yml setup is provided.

Implementing these reference architectures require a single command line per box in many cases. See the docker-compose files in the tutorials. More architectures are possible, too, with quite some flexibility!

Implementing HA for Postgres is not easy. I am trying to implement all my tricks into pg_auto_failover to make it a smooth experience. Of course there are many things yet to be done. This is an Open Source project, open to contributions! You're welcome to join the fun ;-).

Also v2.0 because a lot of improvements and fixes have been made along the way. This includes our “dynamic console” pg_autoctl watch (it's like top, but for your Postgres HA setup). If you tried pg_auto_failover before and weren't convinced, now is a good time to try again!.

So v2.0 because first, Citus support. Main docs are available at and a full tutorial to get started easily with both Citus and pg_auto_failover HA for it is available at using docker-compose.
