My experience is similar and that's why I've never been interested in building a "block apps from opening" feature in my launchers. The author also mentions that using Olauncher has been more effective for him in reducing screen time than setting time limits on apps.

In Android 16 and beyond, Google has made it effectively impossible for users to sideload apps they don't want. It's only a matter of time before they also ban third‑party launchers, citing "security concerns." Enjoy them while you can.

We don't talk enough about the addiction to food‑ordering apps. Uninstall the apps and use the services via the web when you need them. That's what I've been doing for the last few weeks, and it's going great! Highly recommended.

Interesting to see how ChatGPT works now. I asked it about hidden apps in Olauncher. It gave me a completely wrong answer. I asked again. It took a minute but generated a perfect response. Even mentioned the exact source - the Play Store description. I'm kinda impressed.

Today I found out that you can edit terms like Member and Online for your subreddit. For the Olauncher subreddit, Members is now Minimalists and online is 'wasting time online'. Seems appropriate.
