I really hope the new Superman doesn't introduce Kryptonite. You go to the trouble of creating an omnipotent figure, and the first thing they say is: We can't make this work unless we strip him of all his powers.
The reason we still have so many shows/movies set in the 80s and 90s is cellphones make like 50% of plots obsolete. Same reason Star Trek has to pull "oh, communications are blocked" every second episode.

There's always a vocal minority in everything, even something innocuous like a no-pitch IBB.
The response to ABS reminds me of the initial response to the pitch clock. The it's-gonna-ruin-the-game crowd is out in full force, but eventually they come around to recognize: The game is better for it. There will be growing pains, yes, but the system will be a net positive.

Then only let Juan Soto challenge on the Mets. And only let Ohtani challenge on the Dodgers . If you dont want to challenge, then dont!.
Tim Kurkjian says MLB players are reticent about robo umps because they are "not sure they are confident enough in their understanding of the strike zone" to make challenges. "The umpires are better than they think!"

Cy Young Predictor. Skubal is tracking at getting 32 of 30 votes. Wheeler is now the front-runner, based on current standings, or forecasted standings. Based on Classic Predictor or FIP-enhanced Predictor. Skenes and Webb are neck and neck for 2nd.
Cy Young Predictor. And just like that, Wheeler is now tied with Webb, and both ahead of Skenes. Skubal is so far ahead of everyone else, there's not much else to say.

Pail Skenes: is that the Air Force guy?. Shohei Ohtani: is that guy who struck out Trout?. Sandy Koufax: is that the guy who talks about curveballs?.
Asked #Dodgers Clayton Kershaw about todayβs matchup v phenom of the moment Jacob Misiorowski: βI donβt even know who Iβm pitching against. (Miz) Is that the guy who twisted his ankle on the mound. The βTwisted-His-Ankleβ guy. (while taking a no-hitter into sixth 1/2.

Perfect square squeaks in for the win.
Dotted line is average MLB park: down the line 329 feet, straightaway 402. Total square feet: 108,000. To get that square footage with:.- a perfect square, you'd need 329 x 329 (blue line).- a quarter circle, you'd need a radius of 371 (orange line). The square is slightly closer
