pretty sure they chose Bouken Red because of the scene at the end, their suits having the white stripe is similar to a tracksuit.
Apparently, this Bouken Red toy might have caused some continuity errors. 28 Days Later takes place in 2002 and Boukenger first aired in 2006, and was later adapted into Operation Overdrive in 2007. UK is on quarantine in 2002.

I'd really love if there were more depth being given and more exploration to the world but when you're looking at it from the perspective of what this team worked on previously, esp w/ FLCL the frenetic pacing makes sense and personally i went into it expecting that.

I'm not the biggest fan of how fast gqux is burning through stuff right now but i don't really think it's hurting the story, i think it lends to the narrative of these kids getting swept up in a war they don't understand and don't care about and it works well w/ Challia's motives.
