An expensive mid-gen upgradethat gives you the same games as before with minor improvements! Sound familiar?
I take a look at Sega Arcade Classics Collection on the Sega Mega CD and as if it was worthy of the new hardware.
Dreamcast was online ready out of the box. Not a year after either, day one.
Dreamcast was available online in numerous markets, including Australia.
Dreamcast and even Saturn had friends lists.
Sega pioneered online gaming, not Xbox.
@dark1x
That may be true John, I didn’t say first though.
Xbox fully integrated online into their platform both with hardware and supporting software in box.
Xbox gave worldwide, important note, not just the USA or UK but worldwide unfettered access to online play.

How is PS5 Pro even a thing when:
•The PS5 is still £400+
•Console sales aren't growing
•The current gen library is comparatively small
•The library taking advantage of the Pro will be even smaller
•Sony have no marquee games planned this year
Who's buying this?
Sony’s PS5 Pro is up to three times faster, may arrive holiday 2024. Leaked specs suggest it's a 33.5 teraflop machine thanks to a much more powerful GPU. Full details below 👇
Where is GTA 6? With the update for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S let's see how we're getting on.

Without Virtua Fighter:
•3D gaming would not have become popular when it did
•The PS1 would not exist as we know it
•Games such as Tomb Raider, Quake, Ico and more would not exist
•Gaming would not be the same today.
30 years on, show this king some damn respect.
Modern gaming sucks!
•Games sold incomplete
•Multiple retail versions with specific bonuses
•£70 games
•Selling us the same games over and over.
You'd never see that 20 to 30 years ago, when these classics were around.
Dear Bethesda
Your removal of the 360 ports of Doom from the Xbox store have reaffirmed my belief that Digital is robbery.
I shall be buying Doom 3 BFG edition second hand to ensure I'm never ensnared again and you will never get another penny from me, you shithouse.
The reason why there's so much discussion around the N64, PS1 and Saturn is because they are all so different and each offer something the others don't, which makes talk of "the best" very subjective.
They're all great.
Don't sleep on any, especially the Sega Saturn.
Got my Christmas present from my amazing wife early because she didn't realise how big it was 😅
Not gaming related but 100% retro and I absolutely love these Hi-Fi separates.

Rewriting any history is dangerous, especially when companies do it for their own self-promotion.
It may seem trivial, but erasing the Sega Saturn debut of Tomb Raider from the public consciousness in favour of Playstation just isn't right and sets a worrying precedent.
November 1996:
I took all my saved paper round and birthday money and bought a Sega Saturn and these three games.
26 years later, it's still my favourite console.
When did you get your first Saturn?

Genuine question: how many gamers in 2001 had seen an Atari 2600 in real life?
Because in 2001 the VCS would have been as old as the PS2 is today, and I personally hadn't seen Atari's outrageously successful console in the flesh at that point...
Happy 35th Birthday to the Sega Mega Drive.
Here's 35 games that shaped my love for the system, mostly PAL bit with a sprinkling of Japanese a Genesis titles.
What a legendary system.

Deep for on Sega Saturn is such a fantastic and unique survival horror game in the Resident Evil mould.
Its a travesty so many have never experienced this title.
My original Sega Mega Drive and the eighteen games my brother, sister and I had as kids.
I had to replace a few of them, but it's so good to have them all together.
This is my early to mid-90s childhood, distilled in one image.

Contrary to what you may have heard, the Sega Saturn can produce 3D games with stunning results.
Personally, as much as I'd have loved the consoles fortunes to have been different, I'd never want to change its capabilities when I love aesthetic so much.
Here's a challenge for retrogaming youtubers:
Make a Saturn video without saying how it was a commercial failure.
Can you do it?
It shouldn't be hard, its commercial performance 25 years ago has no bearing on topics like new hardware and the awesome titles you should play.
Can't believe the Sega Dreamcast is 25 years old next month!
As the console nears its Silver Anniversary, what are your memories of Sega's swansong?

Okay, so I've been thinking:
What was the best Sonic the Hedgehog box art in 1991?
I always favoured the Master System box, but I think the Game Gear one might top it.
Which do you prefer?
I can't stress this enough:
Most of Sonic Adventure's bad reputation is because of the absolute atrocity that is the DX releases, it's terrible on GCN, even worse on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
The original Dreamcast version is still fantastic.
Hey
@YouTube
, what are you doing about false copyright claims?!
This claimant here is NOT Yuzo Koshiro.
This isn't the first time it's happened either. You need an option to report fraudulent copyright claims.

Xbox bringing a handful of its exclusives to a rival platform is a disaster.
It's been proven that no company recovers after.
You'd never catch PlayStation doing it.
Feel old yet?
Here's a tweaked list of video game anniversaries for significant hardware and software releases.
Outrun being left off the original list was tantamount to a war crime!
As a kid, I convinced myself that the Sega Saturn was better than the PS1 and N64.
Now I'm an adult and own all three, I can sensibly and objectively look back and say:
Yeah, I was right, the Saturn was the best, no contest 😁
Which side were you on during this console war ? It was the talk of the cafeteria during the 90s about who was better and who had better games. But were you Nintendo 64 or Playstation or Both ?
Me personally I loved both.

Happy 22nd Birthday to the original Xbox.
In the post Sega console hellscape of 2001, at times you felt like the next best thing to a Dreamcast successor!
In April 1999, deciding I couldn't wait 6 more months for the PAL release, I bought this beautiful import

Dreamcast, 2 controllers, VMU, gun and these two games.
So happy 20th birthday to my Japanese Dreamcast, 20 years and still going strong.

🎮Gamer Question🕹
It's 1995, the first year of the Sega Saturn.
Sonic Mania is a Christmas release for the console.
How does it fair critically and commercially?
Another smash hit? Or ripped apart for not being next gen enough?
No matter how many times I play through NiGHTS Into Dreams on the Saturn, as I have done for over 25 years, the game is just as delightful, heartwarming, and fun to play every time.
What an incredible game ❤️
"Singlehandedly laid the foundations for 3D gaming"
It's this sort of comment, sensationalising Mario 64 while diminishing the games that contributed as much, if not more, to the medium, that validates exactly what
@St1ka
was talking about here.
Jesus...
You don't get to justify being a knee-jerk edgelord on the back of something that single-handedly laid the foundations of 3D gaming.
I was there. In the industry. Mario 64 was beyond a synergy. It was a true creative vision.
The flaws only highlight its genius.
Today marks 31 years since Sonic 2sday and the worldwide launch of my favourite game of all time, Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
I remember the launch, the hype and the excitement as I unwrapped my copy on Christmas day 1992.
96 games developed and/or published by Sega for the Dreamcast during its short lifespan.
And that's not even all of them...
Unparalleled first party support.
#ItsThinkingThursdays
we really getting mortal kombat 1, street fighter 6 and tekken 8 all in the same year, 2023 is shaping up to be the greatest year for fighting games ever
Its sucks for us older retro heads, as we feel ancient, but PS3 and 360 is retro:
•360 is older now than when the SNES was on the 360 launch
•Both are older than the BBC Micro was on Bad Influence when Andy Crane dusted it off
•Both are older than Sonic was on RetroGamer iss.1
