Elections have consequences. With Democrats in power, the Virginia General Assembly can move forward with its redistricting plan and undo some of the damage done by Trump and Republicans’ attempts to lock in a permanent right-wing majority.

A government shutdown like this one is not only unprecedented, but unnecessary. We need to reopen the government, we need Republicans to come back to work, and we need to flip the House for Democrats in 2026 to avoid another record-breaking shutdown.

We have reached the 38th day of the government shutdown. 38 days seems like plenty of time for Republicans to remember their obligation to the American people and get back to work. In 2026, we’ll flip the House and ensure this doesn’t happen again.
