Those who visited tiger reserves & are disappointed for not sighting a tiger, read this - After about 20+ safaris for 2 yrs across best TRs in India, yesterday was the first time I saw a wild tiger. Coz it's luck & also, the Tiger doesn't care! Look at his eyes. @etadoba

A civil servant gets it easier. S/he has resources, authority, huge fraternity & importantly, immediate recognition. A serious civil service aspirant however has an unusually lonely struggle. A silent inspiration.

Don't know about you, but I'd rather have coconut water on my suit than plastic in my blood.

"The best way to drink coconut water is directly. Ugliest way is with a plastic straw", says Indian 🇮🇳 IFS officer Swetha Boddu. ❤️ Lets live green! Lets beat plastic pollution!

In frightening study, scientists now found plastic in our blood! 80% samples contained micro plastics from water bottles, food containers & carry bags. Banning single-use-plastic to save the Earth is silly now. Let's save ourselves first.

When you drink a glass of water, write in a notebook or take medicine for fever - realise they all are linked to forests! #InternationalDayOfForests today

Never give free advice. Because it only means we're telling we know better than others. Let's be humble.

My learnings: 1) Women, esp 40+, must look after health. It affects whole family. Take yearly screening tests 2) Earn your day! When women respect work, then men respect women & their kids respect gender-equality. This is the link for "sustainable tomorrow" - this year's theme.

Seeing our mother, my brother (and I) never thinks women don't work. He won't ever disrespect women. Because he learnt from her example. And your kids will learn from yours.

She never complained. She was working until 7 days before stage 3 cancer diagnosis. Doctors were surprised! In next 9 yrs, she had 3 major surgeries, tens of chemotherapy, countless hospitalizations. She'd still wish others well on birthday, sankranti till this Jan! #positivity

Then she got transferred to Vizag. Close to family, but again remote area posting. For 8 yrs, she'd wake up at 3.45 AM, cook, pack 4 lunch boxes, leave at 7, change 3 buses, reach school on time, teach tribal kids, again travel 2 hrs, reach home by 7, cook, clean, sleep & same ..

Struggle didn't end there. For 4.5 yrs she'd stay in different district with 2 baby kids & grandparents. Posting area was so remote, she'd cross fields to reach school, sometimes in ankle deep mud waters in rainy season. There used to be crabs on her clothes when she returned.

She was carrying my brother then, would do all household work without any maid, go to tuition in the evening & study till midnight. Then she cracked the SGT competitive exam! Even UPSC toppers wouldn't be as happy as she was that day. I still remember her face from then.

However fate wasn't so kind, her 2nd kid was born mentally challenged. The idea of a kid dependent on her for lifetime even for brushing & bathing was hard. She took years to get out of it. Then I remember she'd come to my tuition class to prepare for govt teacher post exam.
