OUR FOREMOST DAD HAT EXPERT!
Tim Walz is now the soft-crowned king of the dads. But JD Vance is a dad, too, and the comforting paunch of American Dad Culture protects him as much as it propels Walz. I wrote about the long history of this in my very first(!!!) essay for @NYMag:

Also gonna share this other amazing @kwazana piece, where she and Rebecca Wanzo so thoughtfully work through the complexities of being women of color around white fantasies of abjection-as-freedom, and this too feels resonant at the present time.

Cori Bush fought for the idea that we should ask more of our government than the bare minimum, she called for a ceasefire — which is now a mainstream dem position! — back when it would have saved thousands of children's lives, and she got bought out of office. This isn't right.
.@CoriBush is what the future of the Democratic Party looks like. No matter what a singular Super PAC can spend to try and buy an election, nothing can take away from the transformational effect Cori Bush has directly had on the people of St. Louis.

and also: a really great account of why so many of us feel drawn to Foucault, the romance of his beautiful, brazen advocacy for "motley solidarities and unfamiliar ways of life."

"This is how political attacks on critical theory work, rhetorically: They depict scholars and teachers as enemies of rationality so that a full-scale assault on higher education can be waged in reason’s name." A banger from @calebsmith203!
