@jbeggs252 Welcome to vulture capitalism that profits from human misery. That’s what we are fighting. The people who exacerbate conflict to make money. President Eisenhower warned against the military industrial complex in 1961. Robert Mueller’s, special counsel, reported on it in 2018.

It’s time the criminal system blamed perpetrators & not survivors of human trafficking. It’s time we call out women who defend white, male privilege and patriarchal hierarchy because it serves them while condemning all other women, immigrants, and other vulnerable people….

That is THE PRIVILEGE all human rights movements have been working to achieve for the past century or more: the removal of privilege for white Christian men to harm the rest of us with little consequence.

It’s fairly obvious that some people want to retain past (status quo) privileges of assigning unequal consequences depending upon social strata, gender and level of wealth. But I believe Canada has reached the end of that era.

Canada has dozens of laws, norms and practices which treat immigrants, indigenous people and mainstream citizens differently based on past biases.

Otherwise it’s back to the policy table to amend the criminal code and immigration laws to not unfairly burden potential Canadian citizens with troublesome facts about their behaviour choices.

All things being equal, sexually abused girls deserve society’s advocacy while the perpetrators of procuring underage prostitutes deserve the shame and humiliation.

I tend to agree that men, regardless of citizenship, who willingly seek underage prostitutes should not be given power or access to power and should not be valued as citizens.

Maybe we should automatically inform all employers and all post secondary institutions for every convicted perpetrator, regardless of citizenship. That would be fair. But would it be just? . I think it would.

I’m averse to the fact it’s two conservative leaning women amplifying this toxic accusation & propaganda about an immigrant & judicial liberalism which only serves to continue the perception that vulnerable girls are disposable and not valued by global society as a whole.

I’m not one to point out hypocrisy usually. But Rona Ambrose is assisting the party for which she was a former interim leader to exploit this situation to smear liberals rather than address the inherent misogyny built into the Canadian legal system. That is the ACTUAL problem.

Rona Ambrose amplified this article while riding her reputation as a feminist activist who advocated for judges to receive mandatory training about sexual assault after a justice pondered why a sex abuse victim didn’t just keep her legs closed.

But the report demonstrates clearly that girls involved in prostitution have typically been considered the criminal. Not the men (citizens) who purchase their services. Until relatively recently (like 25 years ago or so). Why did I write this thread? . Rona Ambrose.

If people really want the history of underage prostitution and trafficking laws in Canada, there is a 2021 Literature Review and Annotated Bibliography here:. It’s very thorough. Rather long and detailed.

It says so much about society and the legal system that a potential engineer and his spouse are valued more to Canada than an underage girl, even if she is fictitious, but also when she is real. Canada does not have a great track record on how it treats women & girls.

It does not seem to be the case. Since sex crimes against children are not harshly penalized unless the perpetrator is an immigrant without citizenship. That’s the issue the author at National Post fails to identify. Girls are still considered disposable and of little value.

No children were harmed in this sting. But what does it say about underage girls that a first offence is considered such a minor infraction of criminal law?. Aren’t underage girls valued by Canadian society?.
