Thinking about it now best I can come up with is these tracks have an improvisational element to them, kinda like how dreams make things up as they go. I loaded my electric guitar into Reaktor's Metaphysical Scenery and twiddled knobs without knowing how it'll affect the sound.

Happened around 2007. Was thinking a lot about it as I was creating the tracks for 'In Retinae'. It harbours a specific feeling, but why it bubbled to the surface when I was working on music I'm not sure.

In fact, the whole album is themed on how I felt the morning I woke up after this nightmare. It was a Monday, thunder rumbled outside, light rain tapped on the window. I drifted back to a state of not quite awake, not quite asleep, dwelling on how scared this dream made me feel.

I've been asked about the meaning behind the title of the first track a handful of times over the years. The Marian in 'Marian's Lung Collapsed' is Slovak ice hockey player Marián Hossa, and I once had a terrible dream of an incident that happened to him during a hockey game.
