A California Classic pairing: Cedar waxwings and Toyon berries, it is a common sight during the fall and winter months. These birds are attracted to the bright red berries of the toyon shrub. #cedarwaxwing #birdphotography #birds #bird #photography #canon #canonusa #nature

The warm sand was the best kind of bed, ever. As Pip and Puddle lied on their belly, the sun climbed higher, the sounds of the colony drifted around them, but for Pip and Puddle, the world was just a soft hum. And for now, that was all they needed...

Elephant seals are capable of diving to incredible depths, experiencing significant pressure changes. During these dives, their lungs can collapse. The mucus-like substance, appearing as white "snot", acts as an anti-adhesive, preventing their lungs from sticking together.

It wasn't a startled gaze. This was different. A quiet curiosity radiated from the doe. There was intelligence in her stare. For a timeless moment, we were suspended in a shared stillness. Was I a threat? A curiosity? Something else entirely? As I held my breath.

Perked ears are a primary way for deer to identify potential threats in their environment. It might simply be out of curiosity. Observe other body language cues to understand the doe's full state. #doe #deer #wildlife #wildlifephotography #photography #canonusa #natgeo

The joyful experience took a dramatic turn when I observed the eye ball of one of the bucks had popped out… I was shocked. It was a reminder about the harsh realities of survival. Nature is a force that can inflict pain and suffering, yet also inspire awe and wonder.

Young bucks with small antlers, engaged in an energetic head butting, bouncing off each other, taking turns to initiate the contact, chasing each other and the mock charges once was joyful. #bucks #wildlife #wildlifephotography #blacktaildeer #photography #canonusa #natgeo

It's always fascinating to observe wildlife behavior! Perhaps this owl might be using the rocky area as a vantage point for foraging. #burrowingowls #birds #owls #bird #photography #wildlife #birdphotography #canonusa #planetbirds

Following local tips, I ventured onto a nearby marsh trail and soon found a promising nest box. The surrounding tree was littered with obvious signs: feathers, droppings, and owl pellets. #barnowl #birds #photography #owls #birdphotography #owlphotography #canonusa #natgeo

The overnight mist had transformed into a thin layer of ice, clinging to the owl's feathers and highlighting the bristles. You can also see it around its facial disc. #longearedowl #owl #Owls #owlphotography #birds #owleyes #bird #photography #birdphotography #birdsofprey #canon

Have you seen owls stare with their large eyes and move heads; they are basically “triangulating” on objects, on a potential prey. This helps them judge the position and distance of the prey. #greathornedowl #owls #owlphotography #birds #birdphotography #canonusa #Canon

As the Osprey perched on his nest, the white american pelican, with his large pouched beak, a master of opportunism watched the scene unfold, a mix of frustration and resignation in his gaze, but he knew the rules of the wild. It was a game of skill, chance, and sheer luck.
