@DPGBehler The early modern Reformed were more precise. He decreed to permit sin, as saying “He decreed sin” leaves too much room for error. Also, before anyone comes in with the “but you believe God causally determines everything,” no, that view became common after Jonathan Edwards.

if you think that’s all He (God/Jesus) asks of us, you are mistaken and you need to read His word (on the matter)
The Gospel is the most wonderful expression of love in history. Jesus takes all that separates us from Him and nails it on the cross, kills it, covers it, so He can freely welcome us to His family. All He asks of us is the simple faith of a child to trust in His mercy.
