@TheAnirbanBasu @MiguelNicolelis @WHO @BagaiDr @PanDengueNet Multiple evidence that dengue immunity had been protective against betacoronaviruses including SARS-CoV-2 and played a major role in reduced mortality due to COVID in dengue endemic regions. SARS-CoV-2 variants evolved to evade the DV immune pressure.

COVID-19 tended to be less aggressive in dengue endemic regions. Conversely, dengue cases plummeted in dengue endemic zones during the active years of the pandemic (2020–2021). We and others have...

Here we talk of Occult Hepatitis B cases from West Bengal which are HBsAg ELISA negative but viral DNA positive. So PCR testing of blood is a must. Imagine blood transfusion after screening with HBsAg ELISA only and no NAT. still a practice in many developing countries!!!.

Available dengue vaccines (like Dengvaxia) were needed to be tested in primate model of SARS‐CoV‐2 infection. Perhaps they could have been “repurposed” in Europe and N. America) when COVID‐19 vaccines were not there yet. DV vaccines r problematic in DV prone regions due to ADE.

@LuccaLudovica Essa imunidade cruzada valia no começo da pandemia e esta foi uma das hipóteses que levantamos: numa emergência a vacina da dengue poderia conferir um grau de imunidade contra COVID.
