I moved to DC one year ago today...and it’s been quite the year.
But all things considered, I’m feeling grateful. I’ve had so many great experiences and met so many great people.
Looking forward to what year 2 has in store!
Some news!
After a combined 7+ years (!) with
@JimLangevin
and
@RepKathleenRice
, I am excited to be joining
@ppi
as its new Director of Government Affairs.
For Jacob Blake. George Floyd. Breonna Taylor. And so many others.

Someone just sent this screenshot of me on tech support while Biscuit attacks my boss during the first zoom meeting of the day. We’re off to a great start!
The first person I came out to was my girlfriend at the time. It was complicated and really hard (to put it mildly).
But today we are best friends, and we’ve never been happier.
It’s never too late to be who you are. Take it from me! 😊

When I came out at my previous job, my boss and I marched in the

parade together.
But not everyone is as great

As the 117th Congress comes to a close, I’m feeling incredibly grateful for my time working for two extraordinary members,
@JimLangevin
and
@RepKathleenRice
, who both decided to retire this year.
When you moved to DC to pursue working on Capitol Hill, but then are forced to work from home due to a pandemic, you appreciate the days you get to go into the office!
CBP agent at customs: Welcome back, what do you do for work?
Me: I do government affairs at a think tank in DC
CBP agent: I have no idea what that means.
After six incredible years, yesterday was my last day with
@JimLangevin

Rhode Island has been incredibly lucky to have
@JimLangevin

Working in his office was my first job out of school. I’ll always be grateful to him for believing in me and giving me my start in politics.
Today I slept through my alarm and woke up at 6:01am. Got to the airport at 6:37am for my 7:07am flight. And I still made it! 💁♂️
Whatever its name may be,

will always be the BEST. ✈️
Went into Rayburn for the first time since March to run an errand.
First thing I see? A Republican staffer leaving their office without a mask. Unreal.
I think it’s important to try to appreciate the silver linings of this new reality.
So grateful I could spend a full, uniterrupted month with my family back in our beautiful little state - something I didn’t know if I’d have the chance to do again. 💙

It is an honor to have been elected to the Q Street Board. I'm humbled by the opportunity to join this amazing team and eager to get to work supporting fellow LGBTQ+ public policy professionals in Washington!
To my friends who are unsure what to stay or do:
It’s okay to admit you’re still learning. I still am.
It’s okay if this is your first time protesting. It was mine.
It’s okay if you haven’t donated until now. I hadn’t.
But don’t stay silent.
