BREAKING: Naomi Osaka has withdrawn from Wimbledon.
A statement from her team says: "Naomi won’t be playing Wimbledon this year. She is taking some personal time with friends and family. She will be ready for the Olympics and is excited to play in front of her home fans."
In case there are any sceptics, this isn't put on for the cameras. A regular sight behind the scenes on tour is Nadal thanking members of staff upon his departure from tournaments.
And with that, Sue Barker calmly walks off Centre Court for the last time in her role as BBC presenter with no fuss whatsoever. A broadcasting legend who will be sadly missed here.

Scrap the 1:30pm starts! On another evening where the 11pm curfew could come into play, it's time for Wimbledon organisers to realise what a misguided decision it was to move back the Centre Court start time. Should be at least an hour earlier next year.

Ridiculous behaviour here from Serena Williams, angrily pointing her finger and demanding an apology from umpire Carlos Ramos, who is merely doing his job
#USOpen
Carlos Ramos one of the few umpires not afraid to call a rules violation against the top players when it is due. It is his colleagues who are letting him down with their inaction, which then leads to situations like this in which players feel they are receiving unfair treatment.
Mouratoglou admitted to ESPN that he coached.
Thus, the warning was correct by Ramos.
Then, racket abuse warning was indisputable.
Williams felt entitled to having coaching warning retracted, which never happens. So she ranted abusively, and got a third warning.
All fair.
At the start of Wimbledon, Emma Raducanu was ranked No 10 in Britain and No 338 in the world.
Two months later, the 18-year-old is guaranteed to replace Johanna Konta as the British No 1 on Monday, projected to rise to world No 51 as it stands.

Amazon Prime show Novak Djokovic getting into a car and leaving Flushing Meadows. Woeful misjudgement by the world No 1 and leader of the new player association not to front up and apologise for his actions (a 17-year-old Denis Shapovalov fronting up in 2017 comes to mind...)
The thing that still riles to this day is the laughing from other so-called journalists. Happens far too often in the tennis press room when legitimate questions are asked...
A remarkable display from Andy Murray to get past Matteo Berrettini in five sets over four hours and 49 minutes. He's 35 years old with a metal hip. Unbelievable!
Andy Murray has done it! Comes back from a set and a break down to beat Stan Wawrinka 3-6 6-4 6-4 in the final of the European Open in Antwerp. What a remarkable story, and testament to his extraordinary perseverance and resilience.
Here are my thoughts on the Novak Djokovic default.
First I hope the line judge is okay.
The rule is the rule. It is unfortunate for everyone involved, but in this specific situation the default was the right call.

Just in from the ATP: "We believe that today’s unilateral decision by Wimbledon and the LTA to exclude players from Russia and Belarus from this year’s British grass-court swing is unfair and has the potential to set a damaging precedent for the game."
I can't recall seeing this before. Greek official Eva Asderaki-Moore standing in the tunnel below the Tsitsipas box to listen out for illegal coaching, and signals towards the match umpire when she hears it. Nicely executed officiating here.

This just sums up Andy Murray. Asked him if there was a particular person who provided inspiration during his rehab, expecting it to be Sir Alex Ferguson or someone like that. Turns out it was a "smug" surgeon who told him he wouldn't play tennis again.
Extraordinary turn of events in the course of tennis history this month in Melbourne. After all the efforts by organisers to try and allow Novak Djokovic to claim grand slam No 21 here, Rafael Nadal ends up doing it. A truly crazy few weeks.
Andy Murray reaches his first semi-final since the 2017 French Open, defeating Marius Copil 6-3, 6-7 (7-9), 6-4 after two hours and 35 minutes at the European Open in Antwerp.
Venus Williams, 42, is to join her sister Serena in making a return to Wimbledon. She and Jamie Murray have requested a mixed doubles wild card, which will of course be granted by the All England Club. Kyle Edmund also coming back with Olivia Nicholls.
It's been a long week. Just told Rafael Nadal he hadn't reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open since 2009. Decent chance I'll be stopped at the border for that...
Serena Williams cancelled her press conference at Wimbledon this afternoon so that she could accompany Meghan Markle in watching Prince Harry play polo.
Q. You took meldonium legally for ten years to deal with your health problems. Now that it's banned and you can no longer take it, is it a struggle physically to deal with the demand of a grand slam fortnight?
Maria Sharapova: Is there another question?
The greatest of all-time wins another grand slam. Novak Djokovic now has 24 major titles after outlasting Daniil Medvedev in a match that didn’t feel like a straight-sets victory because of the gruelling rallies that were contested. An emphatic response to his Wimbledon defeat

Well done, Annabel Croft, as she addresses the disgruntled spectators. "I'm not sure why you're all booing... I think you have to be a little bit more respectful".

Murray has now returned and apologises. "Not feeling good. Been struggling for a long time. Been in a lot of pain for 20 months now. Pretty much done everything that I could to try and get my hip feeling better and it hasn't helped loads."
Boris Becker: "No active player under 28, apart from Thiem, has been in a grand slam final. That is not good. Don't give me that the others are too good. We should question the quality and the attitude of everybody under 28. It just doesn't make sense."
34yo Andy Murray beats 20yo Jannik Sinner 7-6 6-3 in Stockholm. A second top-10 win in 2021 to reach his second ATP tour quarter-final in the last two years.
Leaving Melbourne Park with a new personal best of 4:35am. What an Australian Open. Time to head home and lie in a darkened room for the whole of February...
