video games were born into capitalism and prioritize metrics of sales and fun. video games are unique in the sense that consumers proudly refuse to engage in the medium and shun anything uncomfortable. our pillars are flappy bird and roblox. this isn’t wrong but forever unserious.
We desperately need videogame fans to start becoming art snobs. It's crazy how videogames are the only artform where older works are treated like they're archaic and unplayable. Including journalists, critics and game developers. Get pretentious! Get annoying! Treat it like art!.
