Everything I'm taking in right now points to the idea that the actual spiritual practice in one's life is active participation with the real life stuff: job, partner, chores. Not the retreat, not the meditation, not the isolated vision quest.

A common failure mode of relationships seems to be:
"I only A because you B!"
"I only B because you A!"

What's the moral argument for eating a plant over a chicken? How did we decide that the life of a chicken deserves our protection over the life of a plant?

Understanding the power of "focus your time and energy on what you want to see more of" has been eye-opening. It is a high signal principle because so few people go all the way with it.
I suspect that half of all people need to do stuff before they're able to love themselves, and the other half need to love themselves before they're able to do stuff
relationships are one of my blind spots. many of you make it look effortless and i'm wondering HOW did you BOTH manage to meet ALL of each other's prerequisites?
