Refuse burning is unhealthy and, in many cases, illegal. Sadly, this practice is common in many rural and economically vulnerable communities. We are doing our part to stop it by informing the public about the dangers and existing regulations in each state.

#georgia has sensible laws about refuse burning. Too bad many other states don’t. #Pennsylvania for example, has two of the US’ worst areas for air quality, but still allows residents to burn trash! Amazing. @JoshShapiroPA @PennsylvaniaDEP #dioxins

Refuse burning is the largest quantified source of dioxin pollution. #Delaware has a ban on trash burning, but many states don’t. There is a huge divide between how communities respond to environmental issues. We hope highlighting it can lead to better discussion. #cleanairforall
