Tickets acquired for Sum 41 Halloween. The first band I was ever a fan of & maybe the first CD I bought with my own money. I was 13 when Fat Lip camecout so right in the pocket. Can't believe it took me till now to see a non-festival show & it's their final tour 🙃.

For what scalpel-like jobs should we look at Content Analytics?.Start with your KPIs and work from there. Come up with a hypothesis’ about how your readers interact with your content that impacts your KPIs.

Content Analytics are a scalpel. Fast, precise & effective. Designed to solve specific problems. Generic analytics packages are a Penknife. You can use a penknife for almost anything and get by just fine. Some jobs will be quicker, easier & have better outcomes with a scalpel.

GA still has a place and is valuable to marketers, tech teams and the business. But Content Analytics empowers your writers and editors to work better independently.

What’s wrong with, e.g., Google Analytics? .Conceptually- nothing. It’s just generic. It tries to do everything and ends up doing nothing well. The value of a tailored package is having a solution specifically for what you need, not having to make it work within a generic tool.

Content Analytics is a tailored package of tools & reports for looking at how your content is performing, mixed with the metadata about your content so you can find hidden insights—compared to Google Analytics etc. which is just events & signals about performance without context.

It can seem like overkill to have analytics specifically for content, and in many cases, it is. But if knowing how content performs is crucial to success, you’d better get on board.

The paywall doesn't have to stop there, either. Have extra products and content available for more engaged readers; Info products, downloads, events, etc. Make it easy for those who support you to pay as much as they feel comfortable.

Sure, this is an overly simplified view and only going to work for some publishers, you all have very different needs, but it's a good jumping-off point for most. In @PeterEricson terms, we're overcoming the friction of becoming a paying subscriber a small piece at a time.
