The Last Jedi is trending again, so I'll reiterate two points. First, it's a great movie. Second, most people who think it "ruined Luke" are assholes who deserve to have the things they love ruined, and the fact that TLJ ruined Luke for them makes me love it even more.
@steve_shives
Lukeβs story in TLJ was one of the best things Star Wars ever did and it only made me love Luke even more than I could have imagined. Also easily Mark Hamillβs best performance in any Star Wars movies.
@steve_shives
It's the natural outcome of the character we saw 40 years ago. I don't get people who don't see that. They want Luke to be a mythic hero instead of a person.
@ClintOfChicago
Exactly. They forget that Luke is a hothead, that he has anger that comes out at bad times. I think they expected Luke to have transformed into Obi-Wan, but a) that's boring, and b) Obi-Wan wasn't perfect, either.
@steve_shives
They seem to so conveniently ignore that he pulled himself out of his malaise for an epic last stand to save the Resistance. If thats not mythic hero shit i don't know what is
@AnnieTheBruce
That's the part I really don't get about those who say it ruined Luke. How does Luke come out looking weak when he astral projects himself across the galaxy to win a light-saber fight with the lead villain?
@steve_shives
Itβs by far my favourite in the series. I love what they did with Luke. Hell I love just about everything on screen, including the inch-maligned Canto Bight stuff.
@steve_shives
How is it a great Movie? It makes Rey able to beat The Praetorian guards with no training after a not even a week of learning about the force, Canto bight was unnecessary,the ship designs are mostly bad, Choreography is bad, Finn is sidelined.
