Stephen Lewis, 71, was at the Heaton Park synagogue on Yom Kippur. He stopped to asked what had happened at the Nicky. “I looked out the window this morning, saw more emergency vehicles. I just wondered, what the heck is going on, and where it’s going to end?” @MENnewsdesk

Police and CST remain outside the Nicky, almost four hours police first attended. @MENnewsdesk

The Nicky is directly opposite the Heaton Park synagogue, where the recent terror attack took place. There has been a heightened police presence in the surrounding area since the attack. GMP says the Nicky was evacuated today as a precaution. @MENnewsdesk

Kaleem Amin, manager of the Sadaat Carpets store next door to the Nicky, says it became ‘quite busy’ with police outside at 10am. He says police didn’t say much about what was going on, but his shop was not evacuated. The cordon is solely around the Nicky. @MENnewsdesk

An ambulance response car and a Hatzola ambulance have now left the cordon. A fire service officer and a hazardous materials officer have also left on foot in the last few minutes. @MENnewsdesk
