So much Influenza A out there (a member of the airborne virus club), sending sick kids of all ages to emergency rooms and inpatient wards, and very sick children to our pediatric ICUs here and elsewhere. Please:*everyone* 6mo and older should get a flu shot. Mask up! @SickKidsCCM

Here is our response to the Federal Government's decision to appeal the compensation order to the Federal Court of Appeal. We will continue to work hard to end Canada's discrimination against First Nations children, youth and families. Visit https://t.co/ne1rUKG2l6 for more info.

Iâm fortunate to be spending the weekend with a very experienced human rights lawyer who outlined how vaccine requirements in schools and other institutions do not infringe on human rights but actually enable those who are vulnerable to participate fully/be included.

âCanadians, now is the time to act. To face this countryâs ugly truth.â Another important read from @TanyaTalaga

There are more remains of Indigenous youth to be unearthed. Canada must do whatever it takes to find them

With the horrific news out of Saskatchewan, our collective call, again, is for concrete transformative action. @JustinTrudeau, if you care enough to make things right, stop your selfish jockeying for an electionâwhich no one really wantsâand do what you promised in 2018. #215+đ

Where is the list of the childrenâs names? Why didnât the police investigate? What in Godâs name are they doing now? Itâs time to bring our children home from the residential schools, by @TanyaTalaga

Truth and Reconciliation Commission named 3,200 deaths in residential schools, but no cause of death was recorded for half of them

I wrote about the children. Let us not assume that this is a problem of our past. It remains a crisis in the present. The same root problem of the denial of Indigenous rights perpetuates ongoing discrimination that affects Indigenous children of today.

When the Truth and Reconciliation Commission was investigating, survivors I met through the Residential School Survivors Society would often say that the quoted numbers of deaths were much lower than their lived experience. We have a long way to go in understanding the truth.
Opinion: The discovery of a mass grave at a former residential school is just the tip of the iceberg /via @globeandmail

There is a huge amount of collective trauma and grief today across the country due to this discovery. May the families, their nations and all survivors of residential schools be surrounded by love and support. #AllOurRelations

Israeli airstrikes wiped out Gaza's main COVID-19 testing center. Airstrikes have also hit at least 6 other hospitals and NGO trauma clinics â and others are running out of medicine due to the blockade. At least 212 Palestinians have been killed including 61 children.

âThe story means everything.â Thank you Dr. Shelly Dev for inspiring @uoftmedicine class of 2021 on our last day of med school. She spoke about taking the time to look back, not just look forward. To find meaning in the journey. To think about our patients stories & also our own.

Even if you do not live in a âhot spotâ or require paid sick leave, we all will benefit from vaccine distribution to areas where the need is highest and from health policies to support essential workers. Itâs not only a morally just approach. Itâs also a pragmatic one.

An example of structural racism is when an institutionâs anti-racism policy has to be vetted, adapted and approved by the very processes that perpetuate structural racism in the first place.

In a democratic society, we can't tolerate public health officials like @mustafahirji being subjected to racist attacks and death threats. This has to be investigated by police and condemned broadly and loudly by elected officials. #COVID #onpoli

A fourth @SEIUHealthCan member has died from infection at work. All were racialized women. We are not all in this together as long as POC women keep dying at work. Let perpetual light shine upon you, Maureen. #OnPoli #LTC #COVID19
