The devastation on its way is unimaginable - like nothing humanity has ever witnessed before - and everyone will wish they had been climate activists and ‘hysterics’ when they had the chance. We are in a moment of unprecedented stupidity.

While these scenes are hard to process, it is important to understand that extrajudicial executions of Palestinian civilians—often children—are absolutely not isolated incidents. These events represent a part of the systematic and widespread actions being carried out by Israeli
A child mowed down by an Israeli snipper, then passers by who tried to help bombed. That's what a war crime looks like. No one can now claim they did not know when the reckoning comes. No one!

If Hezbollah blew up the phones or pagers of Israeli reservists, inevitably killing and maiming children and bystanders, those cheering on Israel now would be denouncing an obscene act of terrorism. And anyone publicly cheering it on in the West would be liable for arrest.

All of this in the last three days! Mexico, Central Africa, Austria, Poland, and more. Truly baffled why people in the media aren’t more concerned and pushing for coverage that is commensurate. I think they are scared of looking alarmist. It is alarming! Ring the alarm FGS 🚨🔔

Putting bombs in pagers, not knowing who might be holding them, in a civillian area. Is an indiscriminate attack. An explicit war crime in the geneva conventions. "apparent terror attack" is the correct framing for this
Eight people were killed and almost 2,750 wounded, 200 of them critically, in a spree of simultaneous detonations of pagers across Lebanon, Health Minister Firass Abiad has said https://t.co/9TQNjDB1Pk

If it were iPhones that were leaving the factory with explosives inside, the media would be a hell of a lot faster to cotton on to what a horrific precedent has been set today. Nothing can justify this. It's a crime. A crime. And everyone in the world is less safe for it.

Think about it for a moment: people desperately trying to prevent scenarios like this are criminalised and jailed for up to 5 years for *peaceful* protests against #climate breakdown. In truth, they are heroes and we owe them everything. https://t.co/6z5kaHWfPK

Staggering piece of reportage, data viz & photography from a team at Bloomberg on the ruin that is Gaza. 42 million tonnes of rubble. As an historian specializing in *post-WW2 reconstruction* puts it: “Gaza is something never seen before in the history of urbanism.”

2023 was the deadliest year for humanitarian workers. On World Humanitarian Day, we pay tribute to those killed while attempting to help others. Humanitarians & civilians are #NotATarget. 🇮🇪 continues to call for strict adherence to I’ntl Humanitarian Law in all conflicts.
To date in 2024, 🇮🇪 contributed over €150m to humanitarian crises from Gaza and Ukraine, to Yemen and Sudan. On #WorldHumanitarianDay, @MichealMartinTD reaffirms 🇮🇪’s commitment to help those experiencing conflict, hunger and natural disasters. ➡️ https://t.co/pqkrGChc8s

all the arguments saying "the planes fly whether there are people on them or not" are designed, like all climate inactivist tropes, to tell people that their personal actions don't matter, and that individuals have no power, which is entirely false
@Fergaltierney @whittledaway The aviation industry works on supply and demand. No demand = no supply. One person's decision not to fly won't ground that particular plane, but long term, as fewer people fly, fewer planes will take off.

Situation on global emissions now so dire that carbon capture technologies will have to be deployed. Crucially, these must be *in addition to* slashing CO2, methane, not as a get-out-of-jail card. Good piece by @HannahEDaly today. https://t.co/UfhY5NH7a1
