Get better at what exactly? Memorising archaic terminology, substituting being creative with sound for learning rigidified symbols? Progress in music is learning how to express oneself beyond words. How we think about measuring that cannot be universally examined.

This is exactly the kind of elitism and narratives of progress we are trying to eliminate from music education. @ABRSM the clips you gave for 'context' do not explain your choice to isolate this sentiment.
Musical achievement is about how well you can do, how good you can get. That sense of attainment is tested by assessment which gives us intrinsic motivation to make us want to get better. That’s the virtuous circle of motivation.
