Georgian 🇬🇪 journalist @MAmaghlobeli will appear in court tomorrow after over a month in detention. She must be released immediately. @GeorgianDream41 continues its campaign of intimidation against journalists, protesters & the opposition. We stand by those defending freedom.

Sad day in #Georgia. Last weeks all spoke of love & peace at Christmas, a happy New Year & unity on Flag Day. Yet, political repression & violence are on the rise. This moves 🇬🇪 further & further away from 🇪🇺. It doesn't have to be this way. It shouldn't be this way.

Someone I respect said recently: They’ll claim they’ll lead Russia again. We laughed. Ha ha. Now see below. Total absurdity. The problem is that Georgian politics is not art or a thought-provoking night at the theatre. The future of the country is being stolen with plain lies.

Shalva Papauashvili: "When we were in the Soviet Union, even then, we weren’t just followers. We were a leading country for many reasons, with our own political voice. Today, some dare to challenge us from Brussels in ways not everyone would have dared to from Moscow".

🇩🇪 - with regret - stopped projects with 🇬🇪 state worth €237 million. @SvenjaSchulze68 @BMZ_Bund reacts to 🇬🇪 leaving EU path & crackdown on protests. We stopped finance of green hydrogen, energy grid, water infrastructure Batumi. Support for civil society & rule of law stays.

By international #law 🇬🇪 is expected to respond to concerns abt #HumanRights #Violations in 🇬🇪. These are matters of legit concern to all states, not internal affairs. In @OSCE we agree: Security impossible without respect for #HumanRights & functioning democratic institutions.

@KirstenKrampe

The violence in #Georgia against peaceful protesters, opposition and journalists is unacceptable! We condemn these actions & work on sanctions for the individuals responsible. I call on „Georgian Dream“ to finally start a national dialogue with all relevant actors. 🇬🇪🇪🇺
