Snares, which are often used to trap animals for bushmeat, don’t discriminate which animals they catch. YOU make that decision when you order that bushmeat curry. Supply would not exist without demand. Help keep our jungles full of beautiful wildlife and say NO to bushmeat.

With a delicious #bushmeat curry in front of you it’s easy to forget what else went into the making of that meal. Not only the boar or deer but a whole array of other wild and sometimes #Endangered species that die as bycatch in #snares everyday.

The animals pay, communities pay, eco-systems pay. Supply exists because demand does, and YOUR choice makes a difference. Say NO to bushmeat.

The procurement of bushmeat for consumption causes the death of many wild animals as bycatch, an array of ecological problems, various health risks as well as legal issues surrounding its procurement. So the true cost of bushmeat extends well beyond what you pay for a curry.

Many of these snares wouldn't be there in the first place if people were not demanding bushmeat as a recreational meal. What has more value? Your tradition or their lives?

The individuals that are not found dead, most often die later due to complications from their injuries or the shock and stress of the ordeal, despite the best efforts of vets and wildlife experts to save them.

When an animal gets #trappedinasnare their first reaction is to panic. The snare becomes tighter as they struggle causing #deepwounds and lacerations that #becomeinfected, cause sepsis or result in death from #bloodloss. Snares can also #damagevitalorgans or cause #asphyxiation.

The real cost of bushmeat is the target species and all the others that die in vain in the process of procuring what is demanded. If you love wildlife, say no to bushmeat.

The snares set to trap boar or venison for bushmeat curries do not discriminate and may potentially trap and kill any of the animals you see while on safari.

Next time you’re on safari and enjoying the privilege of sighting animals in their natural habitat, remember they are ALL put at risk if you decide to consume bushmeat.

#Supplyofbushmeat exists because of demand . When there's short supply of #targetspecies, suppliers make do with passing off the meat of other #bycatchspecies as the meat of the demanded species. You can hardly ever be 100% sure that what you're eating is what you think it is.

and it truly is a spectacular experience being in the middle of a conversation. Last year we were lucky enough to record one of our cats vocalising on on camera. It's a chirpy-quack. Much like Tsavo's chirping when she wants to go upstairs to look for snacks. (3/3)

#FishingCat's have different vocalisations, ranging from the typical cat sounds - hissing, very obvious growling and low-frequency growling (as recorded by @giridharmalla and his team when they came across a female being harassed by a male) to yes, purring! (1/3) #Srilanka
