To be clear, the strawman is the QT, not the excerpt from Seven Trees in One by Blass. It's true that plenty of mathematical writing is "desiccated," but this is a skill issue true of many disciplines. To blame a (helpful) structural convention is deeply misguided, imo.

This feels like a strawman. "Thm, Pf, Lemma" structure is organizationally useful, but more importantly has nothing to do with presentational clarity (or lack thereof). No one is stopping you from interspersing paragraphs of exposition, as indeed most competent writers do!
The desiccated "Theorem, Lemma, Proof, Corollary,..." presentational style is staggeringly counterproductive, if one's objective is actually communicating the underlying mathematical intuitions and thought processes behind a result. In reality, the process is more like... (1/4)
