One of the highlights of this job was getting to meet the man I get asked about almost every day. Contrary to popular belief (and Google), we weren’t related, but on the several occasions I met him, he couldn’t have been nicer. Lightfoot is gone, but the legend lives on.

Sometimes someone steps up for you, without you asking (or even knowing), and in doing so, profoundly alters the course of your career (and your life). For me that person was @AustinCTV . Congrats on your well earned retirement Austin- and thanks for everything.

85-year-old Hortense Anglin just graduated with a BA from @YorkUniversity Her story is great- but so too was this anecdote about computers- something she had to learn in order to complete her degree.

When I grow up, I want to be just like Hortense.

A thousand years ago when I was in j-school at @RSJnow, @strombo went out of his way to be kind to me. It meant a lot to this kid. Now he’s doing something kind for all media students- so if you are one of those, take him up on it.

I’ve never met the man, but hands down, @CTVNewsAdam is the best storyteller working in Canadian broadcast journalism. How he doesn’t have a national platform mystifies me. Give him all of the @RTDNA_Canada awards.
