Love the gjallarhorn but I really love hearing the sneaker squeaks on the basketball court.

Again not saying JMM is the GOAT or anything close but I am not saying he's a bust. He needs time to grow or attempt to grow. Let's give him that #Skol

Many people spent years stating that Kirk's box score numbers were garbage time and how that didn't make him as good as he was thought to be. But now on the other hand, JMM's box score can show how bad someone is?

The difference comes when you sit down to do it and you realize that your screw or screwdriver is too small or too big. Also what happens if your screwdriver breaks, you strip the screw, or you need to buy some grease to help and none of that is on the instructions?

Yes these players are getting paid to be better than us sitting at home but that does not mean what they do is as easy as fans think it is. For example, let's say we see instructions as "all you have to do is put a screw in the wood with a screwdriver." Seems simple enough.

Being behind a keyboard or a phone app makes people feel that "they could do better." I thought I knew football until I started playing flag. It's different being on a field and executing real time than from a couch or chair.

These people will start seeing only the negatives and ignore the positives and thus be always mad/disappointed. Don't be blind to either the positive or the negative is my thought. Let the process work itself out.

Let him show why he deserves to be our franchise QB. If he can't do it then he can't do it, and we don't resign him. Being fans that are being mad when he isn't Joe Montana out the gate is only going to lead to more disappointment.

At the end of the day, that's all we can ask of anyone. Will he be the best? Who knows? But we should give him the opportunity to show that he could be. 5 games is not that opportunity. We have him for another 2 years, at most, without a new contract.

JMM did not have the hype around him that Russell did. The off-field issues that Russell apparently had are ones that JMM does not seemingly have. In fact, JMM owns his mistakes and does what he can do to improve on them.

Let's even do a comparison to the arguable worst QB draft pickup of all time: Jamarcus Russell. Based on the 5 games, he is apparently worse than him, a player from 18 years ago. That is the most hyperbolic thing one could say

A small sample size can only show you a few things and it can make things seem really great before a big drop off. It can also show a lot of problems before a gradual improvement.

If we look at Herbert who has played 10 games, if I pull his worst games this year, his numbers would be similar to McCarthy. Is Herbert a bust? No. Josh Allen has even had 3 bad rating games and he has 7 years on McCarthy.

For those who say "he's the worst in the league when it comes to passer rating". Sure but once again, he's only played 5 games whereas a lot of the others have played 10-11. His averages are brought down a lot by the really poor ATL game.

Do I think McCarthy is going to be the greatest QB of all time? Based on 5 weeks of play, absolutely not. Having said that, I don't know how anyone can even be thought of as that after only 5 games.

As fans, we need to understand that there is a process that will have ups and downs. Things may work out well. Things also may not work out at all.

There are only a few that have been great from the get and didn't stop. On the opposite side, how many players have a great first year but then a sophomore slump?
