We are now expanding access by allowing patients to make booking requests online - with 85% of practices already delivering this. Sadly a rump of refuseniks in the BMA are dragging their feet, but we will never let the forces of conservatism turn our NHS into a museum.

One of the highlights of conference season is always our annual match against the journalists, which this year ended in a hard-fought 1-1 draw. We played at Goodison Park, so the quality of the pitch was just a tad higher than the quality of the football skills...! ā½ļø

GP surgeries in England are now obliged to offer appts for routine care via online booking 8am-6.30pm Mon-Fri - as per GP contract. We've invested a record Ā£1.1bn & recruited 2,000 more GPs. The contract explicitly provides for GPs to take urgent bookings by phone or walk in.
Online appointment requests are now available at your GP practice. We're freeing up phone lines by making all online consultation tools open from 8am to 6:30pm. We're working with GPs to improve patient care, recruiting 2,000 more GPs and investing an extra Ā£1 billion.
