More melee VFX upgrades to go with our coming melee rework phase! Melee 2.9998 has continued to evolve into a faster, bolder direction, blurring the lines even more between 'gun mode' and 'melee mode'. Will share more soon.
15 days ago entire RailJack section of the demo was going to be cut. Broken, incomplete, flawed. But our team went all-in. I’ve wanted this type of gameplay since I was a boy. Solaris sing “we all lift together” and I choke up because the song and it’s message became real for me.

Guh! The VFX team's new melee FX have made me pregnant. Dev workshop Friday w/details for 2.9 roll-out (spoiler: its awesome but expect some relearning). Gun/Glaive works now, if you rebound melee attack there will be an option just for you & much more based on your feedback.⚔️
Heading home to get some rest. Tomorrow we push like hell to get Fortuna out on PC! Sorry, its huge (3+GB)! Console performance and optimization already in progress (hope to get it into cert right away). Bonus bug video from our marketing dept! 😜
Dev build. Blade&Gun have merged. Aim or Fire back to gun. Can aim-glide gun, firing, finish w/melee slam seamless. Can be mid-melee combo, shotgun blast, then resume the combo! Exalteds use this! No 'quick' vs 'full' stance, always full. Fresh but requires a change of habits. 🙏
Another old UI mockup before bed. "When you eat in BotW Link animates! What if we dramatized mods are power? You drop in a mod and your Warframe absorbs the energy and flexes!?" Our 3.0 UI is planned to be 'mouse/pointer+controller' to unify platforms.🤞

Here's conservation 1.0 lineup! Biz will trade animal tags for these. But hey, if cuteness, finding poop and rescuing animals isn't your thing, we also have a wacky Corpus unit called (internally) "Laser Face" for you to battle.
We're looking to spend another week (ish) on melee 2.9 as we address years of stuff made to rely on the old 'modal' system. Good news is that the FX team gets more time to juice it. And they are juicing it!

UI team was excited and engaged to read all the mock-up reactions (positive and negative). They made this in response to common complaint. I *love* this, feels fresh, I want it.
He supported my work and gave me one of my favourite truisms about Warframe “...a castle built on the ruins of a castle... built on the ruins of a castle...” Gone too soon.
Thanks to all TC 2019 attendees and online viewers. 😍Our demo was loaded with gobs of complexity, risk, connections and Duviri takes us in a crazy uhh.. future 😉... direction. Passionate team worked tirelessly, facing unknowns, the stage crew/AV rehearsed relentlessly. Honored!
*Day* before TennoCon we were talking about BSG and Interstellar cameras. I had to try. Aside from Squad Link, it became my favorite thing about the stage demo... it really rubs your nose in the new rendering and the feel/fantasy of space flight. (ya, ignore the texture pop)
Big ideas, risks and ambitions for Warframe's UI this year. Text rendering overhaul was just a puzzle piece. Example: Teaser prototype video. Keep in mind its WIPS/could fail to see light of day. UI team is working their butts off to raise the bar.
Lots of nice Orb fixes and reward table buffs on deck! Art team also killing it on RailJack/Spacebattles for next year, sneak peek of new Corpus fighter!
Heads up to FashionFramers(tm)! On-ship/market color processing changes coming in mainline PC this week. Left is old, Right is new. Overdue! Makes the ship/market match the color/tonemap that the rest of the game uses (ACES). Less blown out, deeper. Warning!

Squad link isn't just about ship/ground. We had another moment w/solo player participating that we had to cut for time. Our goal is interesting opt-in squad/solo cooperation across mission types/tiles (old and new). Might be our weirdest, most challenging feature 'stretch' yet.
Started on Warframe in Feb 2012. Just broke all-time records. Since TennoCon 3 - been breaking records everyday. Thank you all so much for believing, supporting (time/plat), critiquing. Now to fix everything and ship all the new things and new quests and new user and (passes out)
Team is doing tool improvements to verify lighting tech changes. Image-based lighting - should have done this sooner! (Now... back to the streets of Tokyo!)

The upcoming landscape in Venus is so big we had to rewrite how Warframe uses the GPU's depth buffer. This is the "Inverse Z" technique that open world games use. First half is current, second half shows fixed depth fighting artifacts!
Sorry for spam but I'm geeking out seeing realtime sun shadow prototype in Warframe. Feels like a serious leap & its only going to get better. The way this scales is really cool, blending out to our old aperture lightmaps at range so you can pick realtime/performance tradeoff.
Sorry for Envoy signup probs, on it (slow, co. gets week off post TC). For your trouble some nuggets:
-Trailer in-game cutscene/assets no bs
-Art dev year++ but ramp up only started this year
-‘Soul’ is a central game mechanic & theme not ‘soulsbourne’ genre (tho we love ‘em)

Only took me a year... but finally figured out a fix for the awful 'edge of screen flicker' for sun shaft effect. Before & After vid (watch right side)... take the projected uv-space vector and clip it to the sampling region.
"Mainline" PC this week with stunning PoE rework - however other small visual upgrades across game:
-Character shadows have reduced 'shadow cut/bleed' which brings bounce light back!
-Bloom 'pops more' yet without nasty wash out! Emissives look scifi, without washing out skies.
