For me, arriving home = chilling eating sleeping.
If I want to Do Something after I come home, I need to prime myself for it.
Taking a shower = moment of relaxation & primer to start the day. So I get a second “day” in the evening at home.

This is excellent advice. I've identified the absence of apologies and the resulting abdications of responsibility as the primary thing that went wrong in my mom's relationship withme. The cost is massive. When someone doesn't say sorry to me I usually trust them much less.
If you are not apologizing to your kids at least once a week, you are not paying attention.
This concept was one of my guiding principles when I was raising my kid. I was constantly on the lookout for anytime I was out of alignment.
